Below are a list of words in alphabetical order, that relate to History, Geography, and maybe even science. These are words that you must know before moving forward. (Things that you will not see here are country or territory names. Those will be identified on another page)

Annex - to attach or expand something large. (e.x, annexing a city-state)

Archipelago - A group or chain of islands clustered in an ocean.

Archive - Historical records and documents.

Artifact - a man-made object.

Artisan - a skilled worker who practices some trade or handicraft

Boycott - refusal to have commercial dealings with some organization.

Calendar - A descriptive list of archival documents.

Census - a periodic count of the population of a nation.

Century - A period of one hundred years.

City-State - a state consisting of a sovereign city.

Civilization - a society in an advanced state of social development.

Culture - All the knowledge & values shared by a society.

Deity - a supernatural being worshipped as controlling the world.

Democracy - The orientation of those who favor government by the people.

Dependency - A country that is usually not recognized as a country, but as a territory.

Dictator - a ruler who is unconstrained by law.

Diplomacy - Negotiation between nations or civilizations.

Dynasty - More than one leader ruling a nation (In most cases; a family).

Enemy - The hate or unfriendliness of two nations.

Epigraphy - The study of ancient inscriptions.

Era - a period marked by a distinctive feature.

Exile - expellling a person from their native land.

Fossil - the remains of plant or animal from a past geological age.

Historian - An individual who studies the past.

Human Rights - Rights that all people posses.

Hundred Year War - War between England and France. (1337-1453)

Hierarchy - a series of ordered groupings within a system.

Import - Bring goods or services into a country from abroad.

Irrigation - supplying dry land with water.

Judaical - of or relating to the Jews or their culture / religion.

Legislative - relating to a lawmaking organization.

Millenium - length of 1000 years.

Monarchy - A civilization governed by a ruler who usually inherits authority.

Neglect - Ignored or Left out.

Neutral - no participation in a war, or having no negative or positive look on another nation.

Perspective - A way of regarding situations or topics.

Poll - the countings of votes (like an election)

Prehistoric - belonging to or existing before recorded times.

Refugee - an exile who flees for safety.

Republic - a form of government whose head of state is not a monarch.

Research - a seeking of knowledge.

Sovereign state - A state with borders, also where a government makes laws and talks to other Sovereign States.

Tribe - A social division of (usually preliterate) people.

Tyranny - government in wich the ruler is a dictator.
